Strong augmentation is a good quality to have if you are a leader, which is a quality Abraham Lincoln and Patrick Henry both have, however, who can work their ability better in order to have things work in their favor? Sir Patrick Henry was a founding father and an American Politician, he was the first post colonial governor of Virginia. In Patrick Henry’s “Give Me Liberty or Give Me Death” speech, we take a peek into the second Virginia convention and the disappointment of the previous failed attempts at diplomacy. Meanwhile, Lincoln uses metaphor to say “a house divided against itself cannot stand”. This is effective in warning the house that if they don’t work together soon, the house will fall apart. Ethos is used to give his speech character and balance between pathos and logos, or your left and right side of your brain, and to make both of your senses lean toward supporting his argument.
