Patricia Ratcliff Research Paper

Patricia Ratcliff was born on May 5, 1964 in Oaxaca, Mexico. She lived most of her life in Mexico, where she became very successful in her academic career. She attended the National Autonomous University of Mexico, where she graduated as a pediatric dentist in 1991. Almost immediately after graduating from college, she gave birth to her first daughter named Dirce and seven years later, Patricia gave birth to her son, Jose. This is not what defines Patricia Ratcliff. What truly defines her, is her personality. She has always been kind, compassionate, tranquil and not to mention her strictness, makes her an outstanding mother. Patricia is a very kind person, not just because of her words, but because of her actions. For example, during the winter …show more content…
She puts herself second to the wellbeing of her children. When her friends ask her why she decided to move to the U.S. in 2006 and leave her well established dentistry career behind, she responded with, “I moved to the U.S. not because it was a better place for me, but because I think that my children will have more opportunities to succeed there rather than in Mexico” (Patricia Ratcliff). That is something very special because Patricia could not work in the field of dentistry, which she loved so much, but she knew deep down she had made the right decision for her …show more content…
Without strict discipline, she would not be a great mother. She is strict about education because when her children were young and wanted to go out and play with their friends, she would always ask them if their homework was done. More often than not they would say no and she always replied with, “Education always comes first no matter what” (Patricia Ratcliff). Also, Patricia tells her children about maintaining a clean, organized room, even though they might not want to clean their rooms. When they would complain about cleaning their rooms she would reply, “A clean and organized person is a successful person all throughout their life” (Patricia Ratcliff). These are all values that Patricia has instilled into the minds of her children. Their positive habits will be with them for
