“There is a variety of interpretations of what is meant by patients’ value. For some it can mean low price, receiving what is desired, receiving quality for what is paid for, or receiving something in return for what is given. While, patients’ value to others may be patients perceived preference for and evaluation of attributes, attribute performances, and consequences. With these two definitions it is easy to infer, that patients value is either desired value or perceived value. Desired value refers to what patients desire in a product or service. Perceived value is the benefits that a patient believes he or she received from a product or a service” (Aparna 1). Values revolve around many different factors, but one key factor to note is how important it is for healthcare providers “to know and integrate patient priorities and preferences” (Mangin 3). “They need to invest in patients’ priorities and preferences and generate them so they are visible for integrating care between multiple …show more content…
There are two ways a healthcare center can establish patient value to its base: “one will be to provide the patient with the best affordable cost. The low price helps to increase the value of their offering to the patient, which can accumulate a higher patient rate over its competitors. Two, provide the patient with the best service. Healthcare centers that provide a high level or service to their patients will also increase value of their service, and will increase patient behavior; to stay a loyal customer; in the future. These two ways is what matters for patients and unites the interests of all in the system.
