Raquel, I enjoyed how you included that a patient’s health history is basically a story of their lives. It is important for the advance practice nurse to include both social as well as physical findings in his or her assessment. Social findings such as a low educate level may indicate the need for further education. The lifestyle choice of smoking can quickly determine if the patient is coughing from a cold or if it is a chronic cough from smoking. According to Bickley (2014) social history should include, “education level, family of origin, current household, personal interests, and lifestyle” (p. 7).
