I agree with you that the first thing to do is personally get the tray for the patient. It is important in this case that it does not get passed off once again and forgotten about or missed. I have personally seen this happen before during last semester while working in the kitchen. A nurse forgot to tell the kitchen about a tray and a resident went almost an hour without eating. I was the one who took the tray down to the woman who thankfully was very understanding that it was not the kitchens fault. However, in most cases, this sort of understanding is not always a welcomed thing.
