Patient Tower Loop: A Short Summary

On Thursday, October 20, 2016, at approximately 07:48AM, I was dispatched to Hooper and New Patient Tower Loop, in reference to a hit and run accident involving a pedestrian and a vehicle.

While enroute to the scene, I was stopped by College Students standing under the NPT Loop awning saying that Ms. Hannah Miller was hit by a vehicle. I asked the College students where was Ms. Miller and they advised me that she was standing in front of me. I asked Ms. Miller what happened.

Ms. Miller advised me that she was walking across the pedestrian crosswalk at Hooper and NPT Loop in the southbound lane of traffic underneath an umbrella with her friend Brooke Becker. Ms. Miller was turned to her right talking to Ms. Becker and then Ms. Becker screamed.

Great design for a research study to look in to your PICO question. I think for yours research study the time frame you selected is very minimum. You should increase the time frame so you can get a larger number of samples which help you come to a better conclusion. Also, are you going to focus on patient in ICU only with central line or other units as well? I think it would be good to consider other variables such as, where was the central line placed?…

For some students getting to classes between the magical ten-minute break is equivalent to an obstacle course. “Some days, between the high school students and the steady stream of texters, who fail to look up from their phones or walk at a New York pace, I barely make it to class on time, “says Carolina Guarrella, a student here at Brooklyn College. For Guarrella navigating this obstacle almost proved deadly when she almost got run over by a bus while crossing Bedford Avenue to get to the other side of campus. “I was rushing to class,” she said I was nervous I would be a bit late, so I was not being as attentive as I should have been.” On this particular day, her heeled boots didn’t help matters as she rapidly made her way from James Hall…

Caroline and I gazed up from her iphone at each other in shock. Our mouths agape, our eyes wide, and our heads shaking slowly in disbelief. Slowly proceeding into the school, I leaned into her and asked how we should react, but she only responded saying she did not know. Standing silently and stock- still for the better part of five minutes, it was impossible for us to comprehend why she had taken the picture. Eventually, snapping out of the daze, I recommended that we tell Mrs. Truesdale, our colorguard sponsor, because she could handle the situation better than me and Caroline.…

On September 9th, 2016 I was a passenger in rear-end car accident. At the young age of seventeen, I was ignorant, rebellious and negligent. At this time, I honestly believed that I knew it all and was always in the right; I would ignore anyone trying to guide me towards the right path or give me advice. As in the short story “Rain of Fire” by Evan Thomas, I would have never expected that a regular day could end up in such catastrophe. I learned not to trust those whom I have not gotten to know well enough.…

Emergency departments provide twenty-four hour care for life threatening, chronic and acute conditions. However, the increase utilization of emergency departments lead to overcrowding and an increase in the number of individuals that leave without being seen (LWBS) by a physician. “According to a Center for Disease Control and Prevention report on ED use in the United States in 2000, at least 1.8 million patients left emergency departments without being seen” (Johnson et al., 2009). This is a patient safety concern due the miss opportunity to catch possible life threatening conditions. The evidence reveals that a large number of these individuals are disproportionately patients with lower acuity for the visit, young, low income, uninsured,…
