I had worked with this patient before in a group setting, but he didn’t appear as receptive to me then as he did today. This patient mentioned enjoying science experiments so I planned two diversional science activities and invited him to the playroom. The first activity we completed was creating a lava lamp with water, vegetable oil, food coloring, and fizzing tablets. The patient thoroughly enjoyed this activity and made an extra one for Mr. Guy as a belated birthday gift. He also displayed pride in his social interactions and his accomplishments in making the lava lamps.
