During the assessment stage of gathering demographic information, the Social Worker will administer the Patient Health Questionnaire. The Patient Health Questionnaire consists of nine questions and answers are based on feeling experience within the past 2 weeks. A standardized measuring instrument will be used to measure how often have women living with AIDS being bothered by these issues or problems. The level of measurement of the variables will be an ordinal level. The Patient Health Questionnaire is based on a scale range of 0 to 3. For this instrument 0 is classified as “Not at all” , 1 is classified as “Several days”, 2 is classified as “More than half the days”, and 3 is classified as “Nearly every day”. If a person has checked off any of the nine questions, then they most answer question number 10. The tenth questions asked the participant how difficult have those problems made it for you in your everyday lives, of school, work, and relationships. Question 10, is scored on the ratings of not difficult at all, somewhat difficult Very difficult and extremely difficult. All the scores on the instrument will be tallied up by the Social Worker. Patient Health Questionnaire PHQ-9 scores of 5, 10, 15, and 20 represent mild, moderate, moderately severe and severe depression. A lower score will result in a patient exhibiting minimal symptoms, but a score of greater than 20 will be classified as Major or Severe
