On November 17, 2015, I was able to attend the IPE Campus Activity held in the old gym. This event consists of all health professional students attending Long Island University, Brooklyn Campus. I believe there were close to 500 students that attended the IPE event. The students were separated into teams of various health professions. It is a pleasure to be writing this letter of recommendation for Mallory Thompson. I have become well acquainted with Mallory this summer since she contacted me in order to shadow me in clinic. During this short period of time, it is absolutely clear to me that she is genuinely interested in a career as an optometrist and is truly committed to going to optometry school. Mallory followed me in clinic on several occasions and each time she interacted professionally with the patients and responded well to them.…

132). Sometimes in group therapy, it is important to consider the experiences each member is dealing with, yet it is also pivotal to the progress of the group to consider how other members are reacting both verbally and nonverbally to one another. Before reading this novel, I was unsure of what content versus process entailed. I associated process with the procedures of the meeting rather than the reactions of the members. Through reading about the group’s progress from the eyes of Julius, the facilitator, I was finally able to grasp the distinction between content and process.…

My knees shook and my hands twisted as I looked around the clean, polished, well-lit room of MidAtlantic Sports Therapy and Rehabilitation. The light gray rafters and fans of the high ceiling would become very familiar to me as I executed the repetitive exercises, mainly on my back. While the room was undecorated and rather blank, it felt bright and welcoming due to the energetic, optimistic attitude of the occupants. Everyone there, therapist or patient, was working towards a goal, making the environment that much more positive and…

There are a lot of mundane tasks or activities that we participate in on a regular basis that use hidden rules that we do not even acknowledge. Theodore Caplow wrote an article that examined the cultural norms surrounding Christmas and the conformity surrounding them, this helped inspire me to investigate the concealed principles that are present during the most simple of tasks. I chose this location as it was convenient for me, as I myself had an appointment, but also due to previous observations and predictions I could make to govern my research. Waiting rooms are…
