Perioperative Patient Focused Model which is a mid-range theory. The core of this model is the patient and his or her family members. According to Nicholson (2013), this model was chosen because it delineates the distinct body of knowledge specifically designed for perioperative nurses to provide holistic care to the patient in the preoperative, intraoperative and postoperative settings. The model has four domains: safety, physiological responses, behavioral responses: family and individual, and health system. For the purpose of this study, the focus was on physiological responses since hypothermia falls under that domain.

However, some articles stated that no definite result of decreased incidence in perioperative hypothermia was noted. My way of thinking was influenced by these articles in the sense that they allowed me to see the bigger picture of the problem. There are multiple factors that can increase the risk for perioperative hypothermia. Gaining this knowledge has allowed me to be aware of the risks, the importance of proper assessment, prompt implementation in restoring heat loss and the need for consistent monitoring. Due to intense research and favorable results, the question evolved with reinforcement of the issue at hand and the need to correct the problem in order to minimize adverse effects due to Inadvertent Perioperative Hypothermia. Therefore, the question remained firm as initially
