According to Simpson (2005) today’s healthcare organizations need to improve patient safety, which includes effectively communicating information to nurses about safety incidents and how to address them. I also remember working in the intensive care unit as a brand-new nurse I was scared to be left alone with my patient in fear that I would do something wrong. One way that I learned to get over that fear was to ask a lot of question and read policy and procedures. I also had a wonderful preceptor who embraced me with all my questions.
