A. INTRODUCTORY SENTENCE
The patient is a 52-year-old male approximately 5’7 tall, has a slim figure, and prominent eyes, but has no problems in vision. He lives with his wife, who is also asthmatic and hypertensive, and their only son who is currently working with the local government office. He is full of energy almost always. He puts full attention on things that catches his interest. He was diagnosed with Hyperthyroidism in 2006, soon after he could not get up from his bed.
B. MANAGEMENT OUTCOME Hyperthyroidism can be treated with antithyroid medications that interfere with the production of thyroid hormones. The medications that were prescribed to the patient include Propylthiouracil (PTU) used to managed hyperthyroidism. …show more content…
The patient did not opt for any herbal supplements because there has not been any alternative for these medications. The patient has been taking these prescribes medications regularly since he was diagnosed. As of now, he did not see any improvement on his disease; rather, all the medications were simply for maintenance and for relief of specific symptoms. He still has an active lifestyle—doing physically heavy work at home and traveling to places. He strictly doesn’t eat the foods that were prohibited to him, like certain seafood such as crab fat, and foods high in iodine. Foods that are high in potassium, like banana, really help him in decreasing the chance of body trembling. As he indicated, basta hindi ko kainin yung mga bawal, okay naman. As for his psychological health, he is doing well. According to his journal, he is always positive in his day-to-day life and his disease is not stopping him from having the time of his life. He also mentioned that the only cause of his stress was from his family or other happenings in his life, but never from his disease.
