Pathotherapeutic Reflection

As the Pathotherapeutics course reaches its end with only one test left to pass, I, however, feel very uncertain whether I succeeded in this course or not. The material covered in the course was not new or difficult to understand, in fact, I believe, I took very similar course during my Practical Nursing program. I did learn some new treatment options for disease and refreshed my previous knowledge; I generally satisfied with my progression in the course; however, the unknown mark for the group project makes me anxious. This anxiety arises from the fact that, even though our group made a great effort to research about the given topic and write the assignment, the expectations and marking criteria for the assignment were not properly

We formed the group of four people promptly and waited for the topic to be assigned. The topic was assigned in week 9, while in other courses we knew all our topics for group assignments from week 3. Not only the topic for group project was assigned late, but I never had a chance to see the marking rubric and, therefore, to know the instructor’s expectations about my work.
Despite the tight deadlines, our group equally divided the workload among four people and started to research the literature about the topic. When most of the work on individual parts of the topic was done, one of our group members informed us that he had to withdraw from the course due to personal circumstances. Now the work of four people had to be divided among three of us. Even at that point our group was working hard, despite the numerous assignments in other courses. Another frustration with the assignment hit me when the deadline for submitting the assignment was change to three days earlier right before the date for submission. At that point our group had little to no time to combine all individual parts together, proofread and submit the assignment. I had to spend the whole night working on the final version of our paper, extremely stressed and frustrated, which could be avoided should the assignment was planned more

What is your team’s approach to completing the project? This project is difficult for anyone to complete in an online class setting such as this. However, this is not because of any task that is assigned for this project, but because this assignment forces us to learn to effectively communicate with each other to complete a common goal. We began communicating early this week regarding what we need to accomplish in order to complete this project, and we have come to a conclusion.…

Hi Professor, For the Group-Led Discussion I did the introduction. I emailed the whole group on March 5 before spring break so we could get started on the assignment because spring break was coming up. Right away I got an email from Giselle she helped to explain what needed to be done for the assignment. The following day I got an email back from Paige saying she would like to answer question 3.…

When I was preparing for the PwC case competition in last semester, time is very tight. Both me and my team member all had a busy schedule and we only have one week to prepare for this competition. The first thing I did is mark down every important date on my calendar, exam dates, homework due dates and the like. Then, everyday, I allocate my time wisely according to incoming schedule. Had classes, did assignment, went to club activities, exercised, and then, group meeting work on this case.…

I would be more proactive and initiate communication amongst the team. I both post in the discussion board and then email every member with my contact information along with a Google Doc of the assignment. To minimize the challenges of scheduling meetings, I would also tell everyone the times I am available to meet during the initial contact and ask everyone to do the same. This way we can decide early on what our schedule as a team is and plan our meetings accordingly. Though this assignment was not without its challenges, it was a valuable learning experience that I would look forward to doing again in the…

The group project felt important to me, because it gave me a chance to present a topic that was meaningful to me. The topic of my group’s project was anti-racism in protest songs, and showing how many artists took to the stage with their thoughts of equality, attempting to change the way that some people are perceived in this nation. Preparing this project didn’t go without stress or challenges though. My group partners, despite my persistent nagging, procrastinated until the last minute to get any work done, and even though there were five of us in my group, only two people did any significant work on the presentation. As the deadline for the presentation was growing closer, I knew that it was time to act.…

Co-Ed sports teams consist of athletes of both genders. These types of teams are typically only available for the younger kids, but what if it was an option for the older players too? Having the option to play co-Ed sports could be a massive push in the right direction for both the children involved, and the reputation of the school promoting it. The school would likely be the only one in town offering the student athletes a fun and healthy way to learn to work with others, relieve themselves from stress, and learn to have mutual respect for others no matter your differences. Co-Ed sports teams could be a great way to learn to work with others, help them make friends, and a healthy relief from school stress for everyone.…

Preparing for this exam was unlike any other exam for me. I have recently accepted a job at Easter Maine Medical Center, as a nursing tech, and the hours of orientation have been challenging to balance with my studies. My new job has required even greater time management than I have previously implemented. I worked a thirteen-hour shift the day before the exam, worked immediately after the exam, and then completed an online midterm for my socio-cultural nursing class that evening. Although I have not received my exam grade, I felt very prepared and confident due to my strict time management.…

The research project was an assignment I did not enjoy. I felt like the assignment was a little rushed, and that the class was not given enough time to meet with other group members. Not having enough time to do an assignment is one of my biggest pet peeves. I think we should have had class, instead of group conferences. The group conference was a one hour conference with the group and the professor.…

My group, Challenger, was the intro/conclusion group for super-group B where we discussed the issue of sexual assault. Overall, I am fairly pleased with the way my group performed in the deliberation, but obviously there is room for improvement amongst all the members of my group. 1. The intro was pretty basic and vanilla, but the statistics were well researched and the amount of “ums” and “likes” were significantly increased. Visuals were minimal and non-disruptive.…

You could say we went through the “forming” and “storming” stages of group work that semester. Second semester, after we had an opportunity to analyze each other’s strengths, we were able to work much more efficiently. We evolved into a united group with common goals, and this evolution is reflected in the deliverables we created in 732 to 752. We learned a lot about the questions to ask when designating roles on a project and paying attention to identify these strengths. We also learned about our own strengths in the process.…

At the beginning of the semester, we were assigned a team project. At first, the assignment sounded difficult to me because it was just at the beginning of the semester and I did not know my classmates or the team members assigned to my group. With the help of the teachers I was able to meet and get to know my team members by their names, we exchanged our phone numbers and email address to ease communication. In our first meeting, we were able to select the team leader, come up with the rules to govern the team and also plan the times we were going to be holding the team meeting every week. In our second session, we were able to come up with the project, discuss the project then divided and allotted tasks to each member.…

Reflection Paper II Throughout my college experience here in the Carroll School of Management, group work and the ability to work well with others has been emphasized greatly. This makes sense, because in a professional environment, the ability to communicate, listen and contribute within a group leads to success and the achievement of goals. However, none have gone on as long as this project, making it a more realistic example of working on a team. Junior year of college is definitely a crazy time, as we are forced to balance heavy workloads with extracurriculars and recruiting.…
