Research Paper: Robotic Missions

Synopsis:
My sci-fi paper will detail a futuristic mission to Mars, several decades in the future. Previous rover missions have paved the way for a colony on Mars, and a human crew has at last been sent to the red planet to finish preparations for the settlement. Logistics such as rocket propulsion, humans in space, and robot-human missions will be included, as well as details concerning setting up a colony on Mars.

Robot in Space: The Pathfinder Mission:
Robotic missions have always been essential to space travel. Robots have fewer needs than humans, and handle radiation and reduced gravity well. They also act as scouts, returning valuable information from far away solar bodies

It consisted of a lander, Pathfinder, and a small rover, Sojourner, contained inside the lander. In addition to the aforementioned primary goal, Sojourner was able to deliver a large amount of data and outlive its projected lifespan of seven days by 12 times (“Mars Pathfinder”). At the time of its launch, the Pathfinder contained nine solid rocket boosters and a Star 48 rocket motor. These boosters were widely used at the time, as was the rocket motor (Van Riper). Once it arrived at Mars, instead of using rockets to slow its descent into the planet’s thin atmosphere, Pathfinder used a parachute and a large system of airbags to cushion the impact. Then, three “petals” – metallic, triangular solar panels – opened up and released Sojourner. Also, the lander immediately relayed to the team on Earth the atmospheric and engineering data it collected on the way through the atmosphere (“Mars Pathfinder”). It would continue to support the rover and collect data, and relay information back to Earth. It had antennas and a camera for data collection, and an on-board computer with 4 megabytes of RAM and 64 megabytes of memory for image storage (“Mars

I was working a midnight shift at the entry control point with my partner on Security 12, patrolling the F-4 ramp, conducting a 100 percent hands-on “Restricted Area Badge” check. Anyone requiring access to any restricted area had to display the proper credentials prior to gaining access. During random points in our shift we were directed to conduct checks to ensure only authorized personnel gained access to these areas. After conducting checks for thirty minutes, my partner and I headed over to Security 33’s post.…

As the End of Days draws near, he has become a recluse of sorts, and refuses to associate himself more than need be with the rest of the Fallen. Aadinath appears to be slightly taller than Natalie, putting him at 5'5" or 5'6". He has ruffled, tawny hair that fades into an undercut in the back. He has sharp, amber eyes with low lids and thin, pointed eyebrows.…

The connection between my article Mars, the red planet and The Martian by Andy Weir is that Mark Watney uses Mars’s two moons Phobos and Deimos to help him travel to the Pathfinder so he can communicate with NASA for help. When he travels at night he can’t see any of the landmarks like the craters to help him know the direction he is going so he uses Phobos and Deimos to help him travel. “Mars doesn’t have a magnetic field. So I navigate by Phobos. It whips around Mars so fast it actually rises and sets twice a day, running west to east.…

According to Drugs, Society, and Criminal Justice, outlaw motorcycle gangs and street gangs have been credited as the two types of organized crime in America since the 1980's (Levinthal, 2012). However, both criminal organizations have various gangs that are identifiable by crimes they commit, how they are committed, and where they are committed, just as each gang has their friends and foes. " Gang members who sell drugs are significantly more violent than gang members who do not sell drugs and are more violent than drug sellers who do not belong to gangs", (Levinthal, 2012, p. 107).…

In one hike you can get it all: redwood groves, wildflower-filled meadows, rocky outcroppings, cascading creeks and sweeping views. This is Sonoma County at its best, the Pomo Canyon Trail, a 4.5-mile stretch between a wooded campground and Shell Beach. Naturally, unless you bring two cars, enjoying the entire trail would cause you to rack up nine miles. If you start at the Pomo Canyon Campground, you might have to add another mile, as when I hiked it, the campground was closed, and I do not know if it is permanent or seasonal.…

It has come to my knowledge that there is a limited amount of spots in the ENG 102 class for next semester. I am one of the best candidates to continue into ENG 102 and thrive in Ms. Laduca’s learning environment. Although I do not fear that I have not already earned my spot, I will proceed to justify my case. I have been an adroit student of Ms. LaDuca’s for the last year and a half; she knows exactly what kind of student I am. Since seventh grade, I have been an ebullient honors student in the top ten percent of the 2016 cohort and have not received any grades lower than an A. I always exceed expectations, put in 110% of my effort, and achieve and maintain excellent grades at the same time.…
