DiGergorio was taken to Crouse Hospital, but is expected to be okay. Another neighbor who attempted to rescue the sleeping toddler, was also hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries.

According to the Northwest fire district chief, Tom Perkins, the first chief arrived at the house 3 minutes after the initial call. However, Zemotel and other neighbors were disappointed in how long it took for a firefighter to enter the home.

Perkins said the cause of the fire was food left on the stove in the kitchen, and the home is now unlivable.

The neighborhood will be raising money to be donated directly to the family, they will also be collecting clothes and toys for Mason, the Lamirande’s son. Donations can be made at the gofundme.com page started to support the Lamirande family in this time of need. The Chicago Fire On that devastating day on October 8, 1871, the unspeakable happened, when a fire broke out in a barn, the owners of the barn being the O’Learys, that soon destroyed almost all of Chicago. In this essay, I will be proving the statement “Everything Went Wrong,” out of a book that I read about the Chicago fire, called The Great Fire, by Jim Murphy. Here are some details to prove that during that fire “Everything went wrong.” My first detail to show that “Everything went wrong” on that day is that when the fire was noticed, people were ignoring alarms, AND the wind was picking up. You must be wondering, “Why would anyone ignore alarms?”…
