Pat Garrett Influence On History

What is it that makes the past so interesting? Maybe it’s the fact that they are well known or maybe you’re just trying to pass the class. Are we really that interested in someone’s life that someone at one point in history says it must be remember? I think that it is important that we make note of someone’s past, not only to learn from their mistakes, but to realize what they did. Looking at the life of Pat Garrett we are reminded of why someone makes history and the effects that it impacts them during their life. Pat Garrett was a born in 1850 to a big family in Alabama, and he was the oldest of several children. The passing of his parents led him to move west to seek his future. At this time he stayed in Lancaster, Texas where he was a cow hand for several years before coming a buffalo hunter in the southern plains. At some point during life our past seems to come back around in good situations and bad ones, Pat came to realize that his relationship with Billy the Kid would put his reputation on the line, and little did he know that Billy was on the most wanted list in Lincoln County. The importance of Billy the kid had a big impact on the rest of Pat Garrett’s life; people soon became aware of this event and were watching Pats’ movements. Billy the Kid was not the only person who was well known for running from the law; Jesse James made his mark during this time as well. He was known as a Robin Hood of modern time. He joined the confederate army and took from the rich mostly the Radical Republican and was nice to the poor by giving them what he took.
