The power of pastoral ministry lie in purpose, agreement within leadership, and leading by an example as a servant of God. Power, for instance, can have a positive or negative affect on a ministry, because it reflects a person’s action as well as motives. Nevertheless, God made power to be available for positive methods in pastoral ministry with a purpose to feed the flock. These methods are used to explain the power of Jesus shed blood, God’s love, and Scripture. Power was used in the Old and New Testament by God on several occasions. Moses was given power through a rod to divide the water of the Red Sea (Ex. 14:26, NASB). David was given the strength and power to defeat Goliath, (1 Sam.17:31-50, NASB). Likewise, God has given power to pastoral ministry to convey his word and instruction to live by daily, (2 Peter 1:1-8, NASB). Overall, pastoral ministry power lie in the mission to lead people to Christ and prepare them for eternal life in the heaven. Peterson write, “ Ministers are themselves the living elements in Christ’s hand broken and poured out in soul; even unto death; so that they may not only witness Christ or symbolism Him, but by the sacrament of personality, actually convey Him, crucified and risen.” Therefore, as a parable of Jesus Christ a person must confirm the walk of submission by willingly taking up the cross and dying to oneself daily for the kingdom (Mk. 8:34, NASB). As a parable of Jesus Christ, a person must become humble, obedient, and love unconditionally, because Jesus Christ drew people to him in that way. Jesus Christ humble himself each time he went before God in pray, his obedience led him to overcome temptation, and his compassion showed the love he had for people in distress and oppress circumstance. Jesus Christ is the ultimate example of a person becoming a parable of Him. Jesus Christ is the example of suffering, rejection, humiliation, and the fruit of the spirit. These things a person will encounter as well as having an opportunity to display in doing the will of God. Nevertheless, Paul writes, “all things are for the good for those who love the Lord and are called according to his purpose, (Rom. 8:28, NASB). Therefore, life as a servant leader has a purpose, which includes loving God first with one’s heart, mind, and soul. Forgiveness is another way of showing as a parable of Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ was about mission and the same must be as a parable of Him. A sincere heart and the respect due to God through a person’s obedience and willing spirit are ways of a parable of Jesus
