According to the Dairy Education Board, “Milk is a deadly poison” (Is Milk Really Healthy 2015). Pasteurized milk is exposed to heat at 120°C for 30 minutes to remove microorganisms that cause disease and spoilage. Milk is a popular beverage in the United States and contains many essential nutrients such as phosphorus, vitamin D, potassium, riboflavin, and niacin. Pasteurized milk contains an excellent source of lean protein for athletic people. Consuming three cups of pasteurized milk daily provides the human body with just the right amount of calcium. Statistics from Centers for Disease Control have recorded, “77.7% of males and 67.4% of females consume milk daily” (Centers for Disease Control 2015). It affects a person’s bones, increases the chances of developing diseases, and increases blood sugar level excessively. “Milk May Not Be” states, “Women who consumed three or more glasses of milk a day had a higher risk of fracture and a higher risk of death. Men who drank three or more glasses of milk a day had a slightly higher risk of death”. Humans who consume three or more glasses of milk have a higher chance of death. Which can lead to osteoporosis; bone fractures. Coronary Heart Disease is a disease in which a waxy substance called plaque builds up inside the coronary arteries. These arteries supply oxygen-rich blood to your heart muscle. “Does Drinking Milk” states, “One investigation showed that countries which reduced milk consumption later had reduced rates of CHD death, while the only country studied which increased its milk consumption [Portugal] had an increased rate of CHD death" (Does Drinking Milk 2015). The more pasteurized milk a person consumes, they have a greater chance of developing diseases. “Low Fat Milk May Not Be” states, “One cup of two-percent milk contains 12.3 grams of sugar, more than a Reese's Peanut Butter Cup and almost as much as a chocolate chip cookie”. Pasteurized milk consumption helps humans lose weight. “How to Keep Your Bones” states, “Milk and some brands of yogurt are fortified with D. Vitamin D deficiency is defined as a 25(OH)D below 20 ng/ml and vitamin D insufficiency as a 25(OH) D of 21–29 ng/ml” (How to Keep Your Bones 2015). Pasteurized milk is a common beverage that provides the human body with vitamin D, which strengthens a person’s bones. “Effects of Milk” states,“The Cancer Council and USDA recommend three servings of milk and milk products daily” (Effects of Milk 2015). If the Cancer Council and USDA recommended the consumption of pasteurized milk per day, because it would decrease a person’s chances of developing cancer. People do not die from pasteurized milk, therefore it is not a poison. For these reasons, pasteurized milk has a lot of great sources that will keep the human body healthy. There are other nutritious substances that will benefit someone to lose weight and strengthen human bones without affecting the environment
