It’s that simple. I’ve always loved playing basketball, especially games with my friends . This passion came from my neighbors. One is a sophomore at Ridgeview and the other one is a 7th grader. At that time I just moved in and didn’t really have any friends to talk to or play with. About a couple of months later, christmas came by and my parents got me my own personal basketball court. I stopped playing with my neighbors and practiced by myself. I practiced every day, so each time I played I got better and better each day. I’m passionate about basketball because I get to be part of a team, and I get to play with my friends. This has been a passion of mine since I was eight years old. I do not attend to take this passion as a future career. Anyone can get involved. You could go to a public park that has a basketball court, a friend’s house, buy your own court, sign up for a league, or even try out for your school team. In the summer of 6th grade, my neighbor persuaded me to join a basketball league that he found. I said yes and signed up. Me and my neighbor were on the same team and wrapped up the season as league champions. I still play with the same league till this day. Heartbreak and hours of crying–that was the aftermath of finding out I didn’t make the travel basketball team in the fifth grade. I started playing recreational basketball for Montville in the third grade; since then, I had dominated the competition as I hit my growth spurt earlier than most of my friends. Not only was I taller than most of the kids I played with, but I was also faster and stronger. Coming into the tryout, I was confident in my abilities and believed that I would make the team. Upon finding out the results of the tryouts, I was devastated and felt cheated because I thought I was better than some of the kids that made the team.…

That was embarrassing I love the game of basketball, even when I score in the other team’s basket. In my defense, I was only six years old and it was my first time being on a basketball team. Me and my older brother Houston were on the same team, and at the time we were losing by seven or eight points and there was hardly any time left in the game, maybe a second or two. I was always the smallest kid on the court…

One of my greatest assets is dedication. While I was not the best basketball player on my high school team, I worked constantly to perfect my jump shot. Throughout my high school basketball career, I have met with my coach three days per week for one-on-one workouts to perfect my ball handling and shooting form. I wanted to be a much better basketball player, and was willing to put the work in to improve my game every day. I made the Varsity basketball team as a freshman, but didn't see the court at all.…

Starting off I didn’t take the sport seriously; I always played it as a hobby and cared less about its rules. Practicing summer after summer I realized there is more to the game than just throwing the ball into the hoop. I then discovered books and online tutorial videos to help increase my intellect and skill of the game. In my sophomore year, I tried out for the first basketball team of my basketball career and unfortunately I was cut from the team on the last day of tryouts. I was disappointed in myself because I spent two hundred and fifty dollars on my basketball shoes and didn’t even get a chance to showcase them in an expedition game.…
