Passage Analysis: 'Be A Detective'

Decent Essays
The passage that I found more interesting and caught my attention on how to be a good listener was “Be a Detective”. This makes sense to me because you want to get to the point of there story. You want to understand why there going through that and what's really happening you want them to be able to talk to you and end up figuring there own problem by hearing themselves of what they're saying. It feels get when people let you figure out your own problem and it’s good for the other person because you don’t have to blame them if you made a wrong choice because they were just listening to you. Try to make them think about why this happen and what really caused all of this even if you have to go backtrack and think about it. For yourself try to

When I walk past someone that is physically and mentally different than myself, I assume and judge; but my assumption is not always right because I haven’t been in their shoes to where I can completely fathom their situation. People tend to evaluate others harshly when they don’t know them personally. In “The Cathedral” by Raymond Carver, the husband has a hard time understanding the relationship between the wife and the blind man, Robert. Throughout the story, Carver shows us that assumptions interfere with the overall impression of a person and that audible communication increases understanding by using literary devices and elements of character. Carver gives the husband a straight but, aggravated tone which characterizes him as pessimistic…

The crisis counselor needs to have a tolerance for ambiguity. We need to walk into any circumstance without personal opinions or feeling for the event. For an example, if we walked into a scene where there had been a traumatic event. We have to be able to bring back a sense of order from a chaotic scene with none of our own biases. We also need to keep a calm, neutral demeanor when going into a high stress situation or we would permit ourselves to be swept away from our own emotional reactions and responses.…

I enjoy reading your post. The intent of a pre-sentence investigation is to allow for discretionary sentencing so that those with the highest chance of being reformed may receive lower sentences. A PSI plays a crucial role in the criminal justice system because it ensures that the law is administered fairly. Courts use the PSI to determine sentences in proportion to crimes and in proportion to the past actions of the defendant. Compare and Contrast Essay Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s “The Dying Detective”, as well as Josh Pachter’s “Invitation to a Murder” both feature the tales of two riveting mysteries. Although they were two different stories, several ideas existed in each that ran parallel in relation to one another. These consistencies include the presence of premeditated actions from the characters, evidence of situational irony, and the indication of a foul play mystery. Conversely, a collection of concepts support the notion that the two stories were unlike each other in major ways.…
