According to (international journal of nursing) chronic sleep deprovation has shown to increase fatigue and stress. The amount of sleep a person should get per night is a minimum of seven hours. (Internal journal). When a nurse gets enough sleep, patient satisfaction goes up as well as patient safety. healthcare related infections go down and dosing errors also go down. Getting those seven hours of sleep can also prevent damage to the mental health of the nurse. A nurse who is well rested will most likely also engage in other healthy activities such as eatng healthier and having lower levels of stress. When the nursing staff is in optimal health both physically and mentally it prevents nurse and nuring student burn out. If nurses or students are burning out there will either be a drop out rate or the intention to stay working decreases. There is alrady a shortage in nursing and we don’t need to create more problems where nurses don’t want to go into work or do their job
