Useless or Worth it? Are participation trophies useless or worth the money? As stated by the "Trophies for All" policy, youth athletes are being rewarded with participation trophies. Boosting a child's self-esteem via trophies is an amazing idea. However, it may not be the right idea. A youth athlete shouldn't be in the mentality that the world owes them something when they don't get a reward. A child with that mentality would be demanding, convinced the world owes them.
