The Romans and Greeks architectural style has had a long standing influence on architecture through history. Two examples of each are the classic Parthenon and the Pantheon. The majestic columns standing like soldiers at attention, weathering the elements. Herein is a look at these magnificent buildings.

How are the similarities and differences between ancient Greece and Rome seen in these two buildings?
The Parthenon and the Pantheon are tributes to each of the cultures, clearly the Romans were inspired by some Grecian architecture by use of the Corinthian style capitals on their monoliths. What the Romans were trying to show by the building of the Pantheon, was their superiority over the countries that they ruled (and even perhaps over the world).
Moreover, the Greeks were feeling mighty strong when they successfully fought off the invasion of the Persians, so they too wanted a tribute to dedicate to the strength of their gods and show their power. Each used some similar elements such as the columns and the triangular pediment feature, but each had their own style. The Romans made good use of their superior concrete skills to create the dome and the Greeks used more columns and length to impress citizens. More of the Pantheon remains so that we can see how beautiful the interior was, but we can imagine how beautifully decorated the Parthenon was by viewing some of the surviving
