After school ended, Junior was lonely and bored until someone knocked on the door "Rowdy walked inside."(227) "What are you doing here?"(227) "I'm bored"(227) "So you want to maybe shoot some hoops?"(228). That was Rowdy's way of forgiving Junior and accepting him back into the Rez. In the novel The Absolutely True Diary of a Part Time Indian by Sherman Alexie Junior stays true to his individuality and confidence. Junior goes from a loser who gets beat up at the Reservation, to a popular freshman who plays on varsity basketball and is dating the hottest girl in the school. This proves the theme that when you were staying positive to yourself and keeping your head High you can get through most things.
