Some things to know about Parsons are: There is another campus in Paris which was built before the New York campus. Parsons New York is one of the best schools to go to for design and the fine arts. It is also a brand new school. The BFA in fashion design program is the one I want to take. In this program you must complete 120 credits and must maintain a 2.0 GPA at least. Each term you have to complete 15 credits for 4 years. Some of the courses to take are: Drawing/Imaging- In this course you use traditional drawing and digital imaging to explore conceptual, aesthetic, and formal qualities that show how ideas and impressions are expressed on a two-dimensional plane. You explore observational drawing, photography, digital image creation, etc.. In this course you may go over the following questions: How do visual images enhance or create meaning? What can signs and symbols convey? History of Fashion: Lecture- In this course you examine fashion from the 1850’s to present trends. You reflect on the styles from then and now. You study the influences of these trends and the cultural conditions of them. This course includes field trips and guest speakers. YOu will also have to do a bunch of individual research, written essays, and oral presentations. Introduction to Fashion Studies: Recitation- Before taking …show more content…
The Parsons Challenge is a 250 word essay about a topic of your choice with supporting individual pieces of art(it must be creative and conceptual) It can be a drawing, a video, photography, a sculpture, a 3D piece, a collage, or digital images. It must include 3 original pieces. For example I would write an essay about Fashion design and present 3 of my original pieces to support my essay. Some required application materials are an application form along with the application fee which is $50 plus a $10 SlideRoom fee. It must also provide official high school transcripts.
