This article investigates leadership style of the founder of a cause-related sporting event and examines the effects of this style on motivating volunteers. Linda Parris and Welty Peachey (2012) studied the National Kidney Foundation Surf Festival, an organization established to benefit people with kidney disease because of the organization longevity and success rate. Sample date collected through semi-structured personal interviews, document analysis, and personal observation shows the founder is a servant leader.
