Within today’s society, our medical field has expanded and improved massively. Heavier educational requirements, precision of technology, and experiments to perfect and improve medications have all contributed to making our medical field more rigorous. It seems to be as if even though all of these advancements are positive re-enforcements that finding a cure for Parkinson’s would be a simple task. However, even though these improvements have been very beneficial, Parkinson’s diagnoses have still been showing up inconclusive. With the assistance of various tests, medications and surgeries, Parkinson’s has many factors that are indecisive. Current research into future treatments for Parkinson’s have been attempting to replace lost dopamine cells …show more content…
Opioid antagonists are used to strengthen the receptors and transmitters in the basal ganglia and ensure for its effectiveness. Opioid agents offer defense against cell degeneration to the neuronal cells. Other agents protect the dopamine neurons and the retina. A new surgery that is being conducted requires numerous lesions within the brain. These lesions are made in critical sections which assist in controlling or ceasing areas of the brain that lead to tremor, which is a major side affect of Parkinson’s. There is a similar surgical procedure that requires neural grafting or tissue transplants which help find a replacement for a deteriorating part of the brain. The results based off of newfound treatments for Parkinson’s disease will help increase and improve our already existing knowledge of the disease. Every day, numerous researchers are working hard to determine a root to Parkinson's and narrow down a definitive cause. One day, recognizing early symptoms of Parkinson’s disease will be a simple task for doctors. Until then, researchers within the Michael J. Fox foundation and other Parkinson’s Awareness funds and programs are working with a team every day to raise awareness and support those within the Parkinson's disease

    Parkinson’s Disease (PD) is a progressive neurological condition of which there is currently no cure. The main pathological feature of the disease is degeneration of the dopaminergic neurons within the brain, primarily in the Pars Compacta region of the Substantia Nigra (SN).
