Racor takes 5S as an opportunity to involve all employees from managerial level to production floor to make an improvement to a process or a work area. On the production floor there is an assigned area known as the “Red Tag Area”, this area is designed for the items that are no longer needed to be present at the work station (after sorting). The Red Tag Area is open for other departments to pick the items that they need so they can use the item, keep the item, or return after use. Items left here after so many days are of no use with the company can be either auctioned or donated. During the tour, implementation of 5S at Racor was obvious and shown in variety of ways, an example is the shadow boards for brooms, dust pans, and cleaning supplies which are clearly marked. The walkways and Tugger routes are clearly identified by floor markings. The incoming and outgoing materials are identified with color coding labels. Apart from 5S, Racor added another S for safety to improve safety practices at their production floor, for example every interaction has a stop sign, Racor employees are required to wear safety goggles, steel toe shoes, ear plugs, and safety vest
