Introduction What are the benefactors of having parent support? Parents support to children is huge in all aspects of the happiness and well-being of a child. Types of support parents provide to college students are emotional, social, and financial. They also gain valuable advice when they have parents that have dealt with the same experiences. Whenever college students have problems, they know that they can count on emotional support from their parents. This topic relates to interpersonal communication as support is an important part for college students to feel comfort and safe knowing that they have parents always to rely on. They did a study with 75 participants that involved a questionnaire that measure connectedness, separation, getting used to college, and psychological well-being. They also measured psychological and health problems, a satisfaction of their college, how far do they live from their parents, and the student's grades. The researchers thought that separateness would lead to an increase in psychological problems. The results they found are that college students who are both independent and still maintain a relationship with their parents have fewer depression symptoms and other psychological problems, have a positive point of view of college. This article relates to the research question by showing the benefits of having parent support which is that they have less psychological problems to deal with due to having a great relationship with their parents. College students who have parent support not only gain support in their college life but also gain support for career life. Having a new career involves numerous obstacles, and by having parent support, it will help them in solving them. Parents support helps college students deal with stress and other problems. Without parents support, college students would have numerous problems to deal with on their own, which would be tough. College students with good family support are content and are more successful in college and life. Very often we see parents come to drop their children off at college, help them to their dorm rooms, meet their roommates, which represent small aspects to strengthen the bond between a parent and a child.
