Children Use Too Much Social Media

In today’s world, we are controlled by technology. Wherever we go, it seems like technology is following us around. There are times we wish it does not exist, but for a matter of fact, even if we do not want to use it, we cannot resist it. Nowadays, almost everyone use some types of social media to connect to the rest of the world. However, too much of it leads to social media obsession. Therefore, parents should not let children use too much of social networking sites (SNS) as they are uncontrollable, children get distracted easily, they also isolate themselves and live in an unrealistic world.
First, before where Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc. did not exist, people took more time to go outside to meet their friends. However, today social media has played a significant role in our social life; almost every person owns a smartphone or laptop that can help him or her accesses to Facebook, Twitter, etc. easily. In school, students are often lost focus because they are multitasking: listening to lectures and browsing SNS. When kids use SNS, parents should also pay attention closely to prevent online predators and also people that scammed. Two years ago, I had personally experienced a person who had successfully taken my money through Facebook. In Vietnam, we use cards to add credits to our phones to call or text someone. On that day, my cousin’s Facebook got hacked and that person messaged me to ask me to buy for her some cards to add to her phone. I did not know that it was not my cousin, so I believed it and sent her the numbers on the cards. After I sent her all those numbers, I then realized that I got scammed.
