Kids being kids and parents being childish.
What does it mean to be civilized and how do we ensure that we as a society remain so? If you were to look in Webster’s dictionary you would learn that a civilized society would be recognized as having a set of well-organized laws and rules about how people relate to each other, that the relationships would be polite and respectful. As for who should be teaching this… it should be parents. Parents have an obligation to at least teach their children the basics of a civilized society, but teaching those lessons should not be without fun.

The foundation that is laid when your child is young will hopefully be carried though their adult life. “Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old he will not depart from it” (King James Bible, Proverbs 22:6). You are too young for or you are too small for will not always be the case, someday they will be old enough and big enough and expectations of them will change. 7 o’clock will not always be bed time, but there should always be an end to the day, a time of rest and rejuvenation in preparation for the next day. “One thing I had learned from watching chimpanzees with their infants is that having a child should be fun” (Goodall). Children need guidance but children are children. A baby, human or otherwise, does not know what is safe to eat, what is safe to touch, what is safe to do; they must be taught everything. The knowledge of those that came before must be passed from generation to generation. There is a lifetime of learning, but a day of nothing but life lessons, come on. Instead have days filled with games, and hugs and love and positive affirmations for these too are ways of teaching positive social interaction. “Children have never been very good at listening to their elders, but they have never failed to imitate them” (Baldwin).
