Parent's Intervention Paper

A consistent trend through the literature demonstrates that parents are a strong asset to their child’s interventions because of the knowledge they can provide to clinical professionals that work closely with the child such as the child’s routine, strengths, and decision making choices, along with their dedicated commitment, expertise and availability towards the intervention process (Burrell and Borrego, 2012; Hassenfeldt, Lorenzi & Scarpa, 2015; Vernon, Koegel, Dauterman & Stolen, 2012).

Application The intervention discussed this week is Wraparound Intensive Casemanagment. This technique is applied to a presenting problem concerning emotional and behavioral disturbances amongst youth. It is not unusual for children experiencing emotional and behavioral issues to be subjected to poor academic achievement, familial issues, and interaction with the juvenile justice system. There are many other options that could work to meet the need of this particular population, but Wraparound treatment planning offers a holistic approach.…

Some latchkey kids feel that they are not loved because their parents leave them at home alone. Some children do not understand that the parents have to work in order to provide them with the basic necessities. The only thing that the child may think is that the parent would rather work instead of spending quality time with them. According to Brown, Ph.D, & Newnam, B.A, (2005) of the William Gladden Foundation, “communication is the key to helping latchkey kids feel emotionally secure”.…

The third concept in family centered care is participation. Families with the ability to partcipate in treatment plans for the patient results in decreased stress and anxiety, in addition to decreased hospitalization for the child (Coyne, O 'Neill, Murphy, Costello, & O 'shea, 2011). This concept was implemented when the mother was informed that if she observed her son having difficulty breathing or upset, that she can press the call bell and the nurse will come to assist her. Another example in the scenario was when the mother was holding the child during x-rays this enabled the mother to participate with the child’s care, empowering her.…

If we are working in the health care system, we better be part of the quality management and improvement programs too! The medical field is a very dynamic one, in constant need for systems’ evaluation for possible continuation, deletion, or addition of components ensuring the services provided comply with fundamental requirements such as safety, effectiveness, timeliness, efficiency, equity, and patient centered interventions (Nosse, Friberg, 2010). There is a great pressure on providers to deliver health care services of high quality while ensuring cost control. What are the strategies needed to achieve this goal? First let’s do this disclaimer: it is not an easy task.…

Parent involvement with their child's education is very important. The "Parent Lunch Day" is a great idea because it does promote this involvement in their education, but I fear it may cause some tension if a child's parents are unable to attend that day; however, it could be solved by the parents asking another parent to bring lunch for their child. Suspension is a very serious punishment and there are only certain circumstances that it should be used. I think that the teen court is a very interesting way to decide the students' punishments. I can see it being very effective in determining a punishment that is appropriate for each individual circumstance.…

Parental Block As time goes on it seems that the content in media gets worse and worse, and with such easy access to multiple media platforms, it's understandable that parents are afraid of what their children have access to without them knowing. Especially television since there's almost no restrictions on what type of content can be showed, in movies or in tv shows, and there's also no way to stop or monitor the programs one's family can have access to, except with parental block, but is parental block a appropriate solution to the problem, or is to controlling and a lazy form of parenting. I believe that parental block is an appropriate action a parent can take if they’re concerned with what their child has access to. Especially if they have younger children, but I don't believe it is the best solution to the problem. I think it is a lazy form of parenting that provides a quick fix to the issue, I think it would be a better plan of action if the parent sat down and talked with their children on the inappropriate content on the tv.…

When parents get separated or divorced, it is wise to create a parenting plan to determine how custody and visitation work. When making a plan, parents need to discuss how their children will be cared for and the certain responsibilities of each parent. They may be unsure of what to include in a plan to make it most effective. For this reason, a parenting plan walk through template is important to follow to ensure all aspects of custody and visitation are covered. One of the first determinations a template provides is a parenting time schedule.…

It is only during the last few years that people have become generally aware that the impact of overprotection parenting issues. This scenario ‘Their Fragile Future’ captured my attention, those overprotecting parents constant drive to make everything perfect for their children, they protect their children from harm, but the way they go a bit too far. They highly structured rules, over-emphasis of academic success, overindulging and over-scheduling their children to meet their expectations. Thus the older generation has very traditional ways of parenting their children I am not surprise of the way of overprotective parenting, but I am shocked with ‘red cleaning cloth’ employed in school to protect children from seeing our nature body fluid-blood. To the best of my knowledge the overprotect parenting not only impact on children but also on parents themselves.…
