Where Have You Been?” Connie is a character without much presence of parents. She basically spends all her time going out with her friends. Her parents never know where she is. Every child needs their parents, or a parent figures love and attention, without it they would be lost. Her parents favored Connie’s sister which led Connie to not want to talk to her parents. She didn't feel much love from her parents. “There was one good thing: June went places with girl friend of hers, girls who were just as plain and steady as she, and so when Connie wanted to do that her mother had no objections”(Page 627). Connie then found herself in some trouble which turned out to be some big trouble. If her parents would have had more supervision on Connie, maybe she wouldn't go out and try to get away from her family who she feels distant from. Connie wouldn't have met this boy who puts her into some danger. Connie needed the love from her parents so she would have not wanted to go out and get into some trouble. Connie didn't know how to make good decisions. In “Teenage Wasteland” and “Where Are You Going? Where Have You Been?” the authors’ have used the absence of parents to maybe show what happens and how children feel when they don't really have a relationship with their parents. Both Donny and Connie face some troubles in their lives. Both stories show the problems each character faces when not getting enough attention at
