Sleep is a commensurable for everyone; we all feel its impact. Everyone sleeps; it’s an important part of life that is a necessity. There are three types of parenting styles; authoritarian, permissive, and authoritative. All of the parenting styles can bring forth positive behavior depending on the child. Authoritarian is the one that has applied to me in my life. My parents have always set clear rules and expectations, and if my siblings and I did not comply, punishment was present immediately after they found out. My parents have always had high expectations. Because of a strict household, my options are very limited as to whom I can hang out with and where I may go with my friends. These characteristics fit into authoritarian parenting styles. Obedience isn’t optional in in my parent’s house. Parents choose these styles based off what they think will benefit their child. However there are negative impacts of each style of parenting. The authoritarian parenting style has proven that children may be better behaved, but they do not have open relationship with their parents (Dewar, G. 2013). Authoritarian parents want there children to perform out of fear, rather than understanding why they are supposed to reframe from a certain activity (Parental advice and deep insights N/D). A study that comes from Sweden shows how authoritarian parenting has developed within the last fifty years. Studies affected all age ranges. It says that overtime parents allow their children to express anger towards them, meaning when they mature. The idea is that if you are harder on your kids while they are younger they will make better decisions when they get older. Although tougher on kids while they are younger, younger kids who experienced authoritarian parenting styles still loved their parents just as much as kids who had authoritative parents (Trifan, T. 2014).
