Tobias Wolff, author of the short story “Powder” delineate how on a ski trip in Mount Baker, a father and a son start to bond. The story commence with the father's ex-wife not trusting him with their kid, however she allows them to go on to a ski trip with the condition that he would bring him back home on time for Christmas Eve. The son has an uptight personality which makes him uncomfortable with his father in the beginning. The father chooses an inopportune moment to take his son back home. The sheriffs had close the roads and were told not to leave the mountain, but the father was stubborn and did not listen. He had to take his son back home back home as he had assured the mother. During this time, the son learns how to connect with his father and learns to approach life more animated. Being a good father is being involved in children's life. One must learn how to communicate with them, respect their decisions, and love their child among any circumstances. Tobias Wolff portrays how the mother felt resent towards her ex-husband for sneaking in their son into a nightclub during their last visit.
