Some of the points made by the author are valid points, however this method is not full proof. I see some problems with this method, and based on my own personal experience this method can sometimes backfire. This method requires high expectation from a child, which can lead a child to feel they are being under too much pressure. I have found that when parents put too much pressure on their children as they child gets older they will sometimes rebel against their parents. Parents can employ whatever method they think is best to raise their children, but if they are not raising their children with knowledge of God no method that use will work.
In conclusion, parenting is a gift from God, and he expects us to raise our children with love. God is an authoritative parent and we should strive to be authoritative as well in our parenting. Authoritative parenting is a good method to use when raising your children because it allows for direction, encouragement, self-reliance and independence. A parent cannot use the authoritative style of parenting without having discipline within themselves first.
