Many television shows express reality, but some express more conservative views. Television shows like NBC’s Parenthood and ABC families The Fosters illustrate the changing times of our society. Parenthood is a show about a fictional family called the Bravermans. The Bravermans have four adult children who all have a different way of living. The Oldest daughter Sara has two children and an absent ex- husband and is back living with her parents (Parenthood 2010-2015). Sarah’s family is similar to my family in that my mother was a single parent, and I know many others as well who live with single parents. On the other hand, their son Adam has a son with autism, and a wife who has battled cancer (Parenthood 2010-2015). According …show more content…
Crosby the second son finds out he has a six-year- old son himself, and realizes that he needs to learn to be a father to his child, even though he does not have a relationship with the mother (Parenthood 2010-2015). To me Crosby’s family should be covered in the definition of a family but it is not. Crosby’s family to me shows why the definition of a family does not fit in todays society. The show expresses that family is not just about blood, but the bond and support family has for one another along with the unconditional love that …show more content…

Additional information that I gained is that there is no real variation in definition from different generations of people or genders. Furthermore, I found that the majority of people, whether young or old believed that a family does not have to be biologically related. This I found very interesting because many elderly people are very traditional and do things straight from the book, so I thought that there would be a difference. I also found it hard to come to a universal definition of family, because every family is so different. However, with the information I have obtained I believe the definition of family that best suits today’s society has been found. The definition of a family happens to a person or a group of people who you have a strong connection with for any reason and who loves and supports you no matter what and who you trust and
