During the interview Sue and David were asked about how they felt about the birth of their first child. Some of the questions about this time period were related to how they prepared for the birth of their children and how they might have started parenting during the infancy stage. They were also asked about how this period of transition might have been different during the births of their other children. The point of asking this was to see how having more than one child can impact the transition of becoming a new parent. When creating the questions, it was already known that Sue had a son from her previous marriage. The research says that there are certain factors that could impact the transition to parenthood. In the interview with Sue, she mentions in the first question that her first child happened at a young age and wasn’t planned, “I was married at a young age and this first pregnancy wasn’t expected” (Q#1). Later on during the interview she also mentions that she had a rough relationship with her first child, “I feel like maybe if I had done something differently to prepare I might have a better relationship with my oldest child, we haven’t …show more content…
She also only mentioned having a rough relationship with her oldest child and not her other children, her satisfaction with her other pregnancies could have created a closer bond with her other children. “I feel like during my last two pregnancies it (i.e., prenatal stimulation) helped me bond with my children before they were born and I wish that I would have done that with my first one

Are the so-called choices for women who want to become mothers really choices at all? In the documentary The Mommy Mystique: The Anxiety of Modern Motherhood, the women Judith Warner (author) speaks to, in her book, are middle and upper class who grew up in the 1970’s, the first generation to go to college and graduate school in percentages that match their counterparts. Women who grew up with feminist eloquence, if not part of that movement, they were accustomed to modern standards for women’s equality. Women who aspired to have careers.…

It may seem that I am only describing a small group of people out of a huge chunk but this seemingly small group is a lot bigger than it looks. I’m going to talk a little about challenges this group deals with trying to receive health care; benefits if any that may be on their side when applying or receiving health care; and what may differ between low-income childless adults and the middle class childless adults. First of all we are going to talk about some of the challenges this group may come across when applying or receiving health care.…

I liked how you suggested observing and interviewing the women in the program prior to giving birth. This is indeed a critical time for the women and the health of their children. Just a thought that I had not considered until now: Surely, the mothers will adjust over time to parenthood likely resulting in improved parental skills regardless of program participation, especially over the course of two years.…
