The world today is a dangerous place, and with that comes plenty of worry. Most parents today spend their free-time anxiously wondering if their child is okay, and if the choices they are making are too. This is hard, but nothing compares to the harsh journey of growing up- your childhood. Where adults have already seen it all and already have their hands on life, children have not. Most adults know how to handle difficult situations and fix their mistakes, a quality that kids have to learn through experience. Life is tough for everyone, but even worse for kids. When Senior shows how tiring it is to be a parent sympathy is expressed, but it needs to be remembered that parenthood is an option- but childhood is required. Children go through things just as hard as parenting every single day. Without a break! Parenthood is extremely difficult, but nothing compares to the burdensome way of life called

Recurring themes from this interview included finances, time management, education, and love. My mom said that the best thing about being a parent is knowing that you will always have somebody looking up to you and when each family member is present, you can see love being transmitted through each child and parent. In addition, the relationship with her own parents has changed because now conversations consist of the well being of the grandchildren and new events, supporting the idea of love. However, the most difficult part about being a parent was said that you must plan around the child and have time management. For example, if the child is doing sports you must drop what you're doing to pick them and bring them safely back home.…

However, research suggests that intense and intrusive styles of parenting are detrimental to said outcomes. There is a reason for the mental health predicament that psychologists are seeing on college campuses - where successful students are miserable because they cannot cope with normal life challenges. There is a reason why psychologists are seeing a record number of students who are depressed and don’t know why, because they claim they had ideal childhoods, their parents were their “biggest fans”, and they never experienced anything more than superficial disappointment.…

Not being involved in your child’s life is next to impossible, but there is a way not to become a hovering helicopter parent. Dr. Gilboa offers this advice: "As parents, we have a very difficult job. We need to keep one eye on our children now--their stressors, strengths, emotions--and one eye on the adults we are trying to raise. Getting them from here to there involves some suffering, for our kids as well as for us" (Bayless 10). In realistic terms this means letting your children struggle, allowing them to be disappointed, when failure occurs, helping them to work through it, and letting your children do tasks that they are physically and mentally capable of doing (10).…

The Self-Esteem Movement Failure How many times have you seen a parent console a misbehaving child by giving in and providing the child with exactly what they wanted, whether the child deserved it or not? How many times have you seen a child praised or rewarded for doing something that they should have been doing without a reward? Scenarios like this play out all over the world because parents are coddling their children, and hiding them from failure and disappointment. The idea is to build the child’s self-esteem and protect them from emotional pitfalls to make them emotionally tough. If you encourage a child after a failure, or praise them for the effort they put in, then they are willing to try again and again until they overcome an obstacle.…
