Hypothesis: Parental neglect is the reasons behind the monsters and Victor Frankenstein 's behaviour. Frankenstein is a book reminiscent of Mary Shelley’s own life.
After reading various texts and the book ‘Frankenstein’ by Mary Shelley, I have arrived to the conclusion that parental neglect is the sole reason behind the monster 's vicious behaviour. I also hypothesize that Frankenstein is a book reminiscent of Shelley’s own life. I have found many pieces of texts which further analyse the ideas of neglect in detail. The supporting texts which validate my hypothesis are Shaunessey Simmonds ‘Frankenstein’, ‘Parents Responsibly to their Children’, ‘Presentation of Criticism’ by Laura Claridge, ‘Victor Frankenstein as a Child Abuser’ by Anonymous and ‘Parent Child Tension’ by Laura Claridge In her writings 'Frankenstein, “Parents Responsibility to Their Children”, Shaunessey Simmonds elucidates the monster’s lack of effectiveness at adapting to the human world. She discusses the psychological effects of physical neglect on the monster’s mind and the hatred caused by Victor’s abandonment. “Accursed creator! Why did you form a monster so hideous that even you turned from me in disgust? God, in pity, made man beautiful and alluring, after his image; but my form is a filthy type of yours, more horrid even from the very resemblance”.
