This article discusses the issue of childhood obesity and the authors emphasise that parental influence is an important factor in developing possible prevention programs. The authors study this topic from three major categories such as how parental diet control affects children’s weight, and also elaborately analyse each aspect and emphasize parental influence is the main factor that causes childhood obesity. The authors conclude that the studies summarize the currently published results and identify research gaps and flaws which should be solved in future research on paediatric obesity and parental influence. The main point of this article is to understand parental influence on childhood obesity. Its contents provide a systematic and evidence-based review which would be reliable information for developing an effective prevention program in the future. However, no illustration of preventive measures is depicted in this article. The authors’ thorough analysis on parental influence on childhood obesity will be useful for future studies on solving childhood obesity issues.
