A V-Chip is “a device built into most television sets in the 2000s- to allow parents to block out programs they don’t want their children to see” (“Understanding the tv ratings and parental controls” 2). A V-Chip is just parental controls but it is an extra detection of the websites that your child is browsing and it will tell you essentially the same thing that a parental control will tell you, it is just added on top of the parental controls. Parental controls lead to children being a said “delinquent”. This is shown in the quote “Previous studies have demonstrated the association between parental control and adolescent delinquency, but few have extended examination of such association into young adulthood” (Harris-Mckoy, Cui 1). In my personal opinion, I believe that to a certain extent that parental controls are very important and also necessary to have on the television and computer to protect your children from the dangers that are on the internet, for example porn sites and online chat rooms with strangers. I think it is very necessary to have parental controls on the electronics in the house in situations like this. I also think a parent can go overboard with using the parental controls where they block everything but one or two kid’s channels and websites. I think that would be a little bit overboard, this is the instance that could cause a child to start hiding things from you which gets them into
