Personal Narrative: My Experience Of Working In High School

My overwhelming reaction to all of the activities so far in class and in our readings has been relief. It is so nice to be surrounded by people who can guide me in the right direction and also are passionate about the same thing I am. I suppose that it one of the things I am most excited about for when I am done with my lower level classes and I can be surrounded by people with the same passions. Even though I learn a lot from others majors and passions which they talked about a little bit in chapter 13, it’s still nice to be surrounded by positive supportive vibes. The sections in chapter 13 over working with colleges, I thought was very interesting. When I visualized working in a classroom someday, I sort of visualized being locked in a …show more content…

In my high school years, my parents only came to the school once or twice I think I could feel a difference in relationships with the teachers. Parent teacher nights and the relationship that comes from that, I think helps connect the student and teacher because it clears up a mysterious part of the equation for the teacher. Even if the meeting is only for 15 minutes, I have seen teachers stop and talk to students for 30 minutes because they met their student’s parent and something new came out of that. I guess based on my own experience in high school I also forgot to factor in the parents into my classroom. That’s two important parts that I have totally skipped over. I would have to ask how important that parent interaction is in high school. That is a time that many kids are driving themselves around, making plans and deciding colleges which none of those activities are that parent focused. I don’t see it being as important as middle and grade school but still a good tool to

The transition from High School can often times be very frustrating for students. L. Lennie Irvin opened my eyes to one of the bad habits I picked up on in High school. Hardworking, trustworthy, selfless, determined, and helpful… I believe that I have demonstrated these qualities exceptionally throughout my high school career. A glimpse at my exquisite grades that I have kept in four years of challenging classes reveals not only my effort, but my endless determination as well. Despite all of the energy that I directed towards my own success at school, I was always willing to help others who struggled in their classes, especially in math and science. Also, I put time and effort into my extracurricular activities in order to benefit my school’s community. I painted a mural of the Mt. Hope Bridge to beautify a conference room, helped plan countless events for the entire student body, from spirit weeks to…

Strong relationships are built when there is open communication, equal partnership and understanding. Parents know their child the best and the open communication will help the child succeed. Communication with families can help identify behavior and academic changes. My high school experience at High Point High School began as frustrating then it became positive. Being academically independent, since elementary school, I did not feel that high school was going to be a major difference, but I did not take into consideration of a new ambiance with new challenges. One thing that remained the same was the fact that I was always reserved and I stayed to myself. I thought that in high school I was going to be able to leave my shell and be more outgoing. I was wrong, I am still shy and still quiet, but high school did teach me valuable concepts that I will carry on through college.…

This class was nothing like I’ve ever been apart of. The dynamics of the class, how it was structured, and the requirements, were all so foreign to me that it really allowed me to grow as a student, and a business major. I learned a lot about not only myself, but also how I react in certain situations. I also learned about my peers in a way I would otherwise not have. Beginning with the class dynamics, I learned how different personalities are.…
