In regard to Case 1, the principal need to start using different approaches and exhibiting better ownership and accountability and not simply allocating tasks to his assistant principals and avoiding disciplinary roles but through his direct leadership. However, to improve the school’s academic and student behavioral reputation, hiring parental liaison is necessary. Because, according to Sanders, M. G. (2008) which suggested the use liaison provides direct services to families at risk, deliver support for teacher outreach, facilitation of school-based home partnership teams, steer-home school partnership improvement while building stronger ties between the school and the families( Sanders, 2008). The PR problems is relative to gossip and poor community image of the school. But it can be managed and assumed. The important aspect of principal plan is remediation because “Parent support is not as fuzzy an area as we think. With good intentions, persistence, and tested strategies that have worked over time, it can be an incredible opportunity to engage and empower parents to support schools and impact student learning” (Sanders, 2008).
In the process of remediation, the principal plan should focus on sharing ownership of all disciplinary problems, parental calls whereas exuding better leadership generally. Also, Fink and Silverman(2014) put forward a school principle framework created by faculty at the University Of Washington’s center for Educational Leadership and that principal might adopt a parallel version whereas brain storming and executing a shared vision. Therefore, ensuring that the principal functions as instructional leader. But following this model is promoting and engaging principals on development and practices through professional development and equitable teacher support and evaluation (Fink & Silverman, 2014). As one analyzes case 2 regarding parent night, it is essential for every teachers, staff and administrators to come together and parent centered to structure and scheduled plan with creative, relevant and engaging mini-lessons, group discussions and refreshment. It is advisable to give professional development training to staff according to Epstein research relative to parent involvement in education. However, in preparing for parent night Epstein proposed that school staff embrace frequent and specific communication as the primary parental involvement strategy (Bower & Griffin, 2011). Also, it is stated that weekly report were used by several teachers to inform parents on their child performance, missing assignment and failing grade (Bower & Griffin, 2011). Alternatively, administration and teachers is provided the opportunity to call and email parents personally as a reminder and to invite them to the school event like Parent Teacher Association meetings and conferences (Bowers & Griffin, 2011). Regarding case 3A the plan of action is offering more data to parents and community on why the new science curriculum is beneficial and how inquiry based learning can improve, but not merely in term of test scores.
