Romeo and Juliet is a play created by William Shakespeare. The Prince Escalus must decide who will be punished and who will be pardoned for their actions. The decision to punish or pardon someone depends on if they broke a law, and although he died, Romeo still has crimes to pay for.
Romeo should be punished for the murder of Paris. Paris’ servant said “Oh lord, they’re fighting!” when he witnessed Paris and Romeo’s fight outside of Juliet’s tomb (V, iii). Prince Escalus announced that “If you ever disturb the streets again, you will pay with your lives” (I, i). This means that Romeo’s fight with Paris is punishable by death.
