I had a number of questions about my portion, but the most interesting one to myself was: Why is it so important to care for strangers? My parashat hashavua is Parashat Mishpatim. In the story of Parashat Mishpatim, it explains what happened when there was slavery and all of the laws. Also, it shows how God and Moses helps the slaves. Rabbi Moses ben Nachman wrote about the importances of caring for strangers, he provides,“You should not think that strangers have no one to save them from violence or oppressions of your hands.” This quote develops the caring for strangers by revealing there should be someone in the world that would care for you. Another person that wrote about this is, Rabbi Leo Baeck. He wrote about doing things for stranger,

He states, “The treatment given to strangers is always the surest standard by which to measure the respect for human respect for human rights and the humanitarianism that prevails in any state.” I agree with Rabbi Moses ben Nachman, Rabbi Leo Baeck, and Rabbi Samson Raphael Hirsch because strangers shouldn’t be alone with whole lives. Even if you don’t know them doesn’t mean that you can’t say something to them. The people that wrote these quotes show everyone should show respect for strangers.My understanding is if someone is sitting alone or talking to themself then you should go over and talk to them, so that you can make them happy.The sources didn’t change my opinion because youu should always should respect to one another. From this I learned always do the right thing for other. In my Parashat there was some good and bad rules that they had. Some bad rules that they had were, one who kidnaps a person- whether having sold or still holding the victim- shall be put to death, if the victim survives a day or two, it is not to be avenged, since the one is the other’s property, and when (two or more) parties fight, and one of them pushes a pregnant women and a results, but no other damage ensues, the woman's husband may exact, the payment to be based on
