This assignment will focus on Case #2, which involves paraprofessionals doing mental health counseling with members of an Asian, Pacific Islander, and Central American communities based on similarities that the paraprofessionals have with the community members’ culture and language. The paraprofessionals do not have licenses to be providing services, which is a newly adopted policy.

The state department representative an ethical responsibility to “take adequate measures to discourage, prevent, expose, and correct the unethical conduct of colleagues” (National Association of Social Workers, 2008). The social worker is not acting ethical following the enactment of the new policy as she continues to allow the paraprofessionals to provide mental health services. The state department representative is aware of the social workers actions and has the responsibility to take adequate measures such as reporting the social worker.

Is there a win-win solution to this dilemma? What do you think it might be?
There is a win-win situation to this dilemma. The new policy could include a time frame that would allow paraprofessionals that are already providing services to continue to serve clients provided they are enrolled in a social work program to continue their education. This would allow the clients to continue to receive services as they are while also allowing the new policy to be implemented fully over time to ensure all clients are serviced by
