Paraprofessional Reflection

Decent Essays
Hi,

I have completed the orientation and my start date for paraprofessional starts April 3rd. I was a teacher from 2000-2003 but qualifications expired. I completed all for the UFT but had a question how do I submit for salary P5 for the educational Assistant B? I cannot submit for Educational Associate B.A degree cause need to be working for a full year prior. Is it done automatically from back office according to my credentials, and if not what steps do I need to take.

Thank you in advance for any input or suggestions.

Sincerely,

katerina varsos

With the complexity of these diseases, it is vivid that effective patient care needs to be provided by more that one profession. Interprofessional collaboration is no doubt an important aspect of healthcare profession. Before joining pharmacy school, I had a general idea of what entails interprofessional practice. I was aware of the importance of working as a team, but was not aware of how to effectively develop adequate relationships.…

A strong teacher/paraprofessional team is critical to student success. When a teacher and an aide are working together to plan lessons, deliver instruction and evaluate student progress, everyone benefits. Effective communication is the main priority. Teams need training in problem solving and communication skills and must put the strategies they’ve learned into place. Working as a paraprofessional in the Flat Rock, Allen Park and River Rouge school districts is my favorite job to date.…

Teaching is not only sharing knowledge and providing guidance for people to understand, it is also about learning. I’ve had prior teaching opportunities and have done a number of work-related, in-service education sessions in my place of employment, most considered informal. Presenting and teaching to an unfamiliar audience in the community, however, it’s a whole different experience. It’s an experience where I learned a great deal. This paper will discuss the overall teaching experience including; topic selected, the rationale and how it was presented, the learning theory applied and what materials were used during the session and the audience’s evaluation, as well as my personal evaluation of this valuable experience.…

In order to create a positive classroom atmosphere with a lead teacher, the two individuals need to create a positive partnership. According to Merriam-Webster (2018), a partnership is a relationship resembling a legal partnership and usually involving close cooperation between parties having specified and joint rights and responsibilities. In the classroom, the paraprofessional and the teacher mutual interests are to create a helpful classroom that helps students learn and make the experiences of the children in the classroom more gratifying. When I work with new teachers, I always communicate with them about their classroom dynamics. As a paraprofessional, I can set an example of positive behavior in the classroom by being a role model of positive behavior.…

    Therapist Reflection

Thus far, I have learned many important aspects of becoming an effective therapist. One of the major parts of training involves evaluation and feedback from supervisors or peers. I think evaluations are an important part of training because it provides feedback to areas, which you are doing well in, and areas in which you will need improvement. I believe that without evaluations, we as therapist cannot grow into effective therapist. To date I cannot think of any job or career that does not use “end of the year evaluations”.…

The significance of this experience is that this situation was one of the most challenging experiences I have encountered in my role as a Behavior Health Technician. By virtue of the patient being nonverbal and artistic, I felt incompetent and was unsure of how to help the patient, which put us both in vulnerable positions. I felt anxious as well as frustrated about not being able to help. Although, I tried to focus on the client’s needs, his behavior was too problematic. This experience challenged my personal viewpoints, my professionalism, and my values as a social worker.…

Introduction Throughout the past few weeks, communication in a fast food workplace was recorded and analysed. This report will summarise the experiences had and reflect on the interactions between multiple types of customers, co-workers and myself that occurred over the past work shifts. Summary These interactions all occurred in a fast food restaurant in the middle of a food court in a local shopping centre and usually only last up to 5 minutes when dealing with customers. Over the course of two 8-hour shifts on alternating weekends I came into contact with many different groups of people ranging in gender and age in my workplace, mainly my co-workers, different types of customers and my boss or manager.…

I had a painful and difficult experience with my supervisor when I was the business office manager in the CU Psychology department, and the situation turned out to be a major catalyst for me leaving the world of full-time employment. The scenario was that two employees I supervised arrived to work at their normal time, on a day that CU had a 2-hour delayed start due to weather. They were safe and I did not feel their choices required immediate attention, nor was I aware of a policy regarding such a situation, so I let them both know we would touch base the following day, as I was not in the office that day. However, my supervisor was extremely displeased with their choices, and decided to have a meeting with them, in spite of my request for her to wait until I was back in the office.…

The concepts delivered throughout the management problem-solving course have provided me with valuable simulated real-life experiences which can be applied in my everyday work life as a HR Administrator with aspirations of progressing my career. The course delivery was such that as a student, I was able to use my existing knowledge and skills, in addition to that of my peers, to analyse and explore complex organisational problems. This course has challenged the way I think and deepened my understanding of the problem-solving process, which has enabled me to perceive issues from new perspectives, I once would not have considered. Additionally, it has also allowed me to make explicit and authentic connections between the course content and my…

When I reflect on this semester and my practicum experience, the first thing that comes to my mind is motivation and drive. This is the first time I have actually felt comfortable enough to want to be in the classroom all day, everyday. This semester opened up my eyes in many different ways, and if anything, made me fall more in love with teaching and working with these students. After this practicum experience, I bring a new gift with me and that is confidence. I feel at easy in front of a group of students and truly feel that if my CT made me get up and help her teach, I could figure it out.…
