Paraphilic disorders are described as “sexual deviation syndromes characterized by aberrant sexual fantasies, urges, and /or behaviors” (Saleh & Berlin, 2003). There is a difference from those who have unusual sexual fantasies and/or desires while engaging in healthy sexual activities with a partner and those who are diagnosed with paraphilic disorder. Those who act upon their fantasies in a way that causes harm to themselves and others are diagnosed with paraphilic disorders.
