This case involves a 22-year-old female named Denise, who has had a history of self-destructive behavior. Her self-destructive behavior includes drug and alcohol abuse, cutting herself and outbursts of temper especially with her boyfriends. Growing up for Denise was very difficult for her, she has been a victim of sexual and verbal abuse. Her outbursts of her temper have cause stormy relationships with others and has affected her in her job as an public relations consultant.
Symptoms and Diagnosis One of the patient’s symptoms is that she is very moody and often has episodes of depression. People with Borderline personality disorder have “recurring suicidal behaviors or threats or self-harming behavior, such as cutting” (nimh.nih.gov), which she is showing. Her outburst from her

The symptoms that she shows are that she is quick to getting angry. He has trouble working with other people which makes her personal relationships with others difficult. She doesn’t see her problem that she has, and that’s one of the symptoms of Paranoid Personality Disorder.
Treatment
Denise has some options to help with her Personality Disorder. The first option that she has is Psychotherapy which “is the first line of choice for BPD” (Nami.org). Option is often the key to a person’s recovery from a personality disorder. The second option that Denise has, is the second best to treat a person with a personality disorder. There isn’t just one medication to treat Borderline Personality Disorder, the patient has to take several medications to treat the symptoms for Borderline Personality Disorder. The medications include antidepressants, mood stabilizers, and for some patients, they may have to take a low dosage of antipsychotic medication. The third option that Denise has is a short term hospitalization, this is only necessary in stressful times. This is a good way to watch and eliminate suicidal
